Brazil Vs Scotland Friendly March 27th 2011

Going to this game I thought would let me see 2 things. 1) Brazil to completely walk over Scotland by a huge margin and 2) Get to see some good talent coming out of Brazil. In the end I only got to see one.
When the Brazil squad was announced at the start of March I was quite disappointed. No Kaka, no Ronaldinho, no Robinho, no Luis Fabiano and Pirlo then pulled out a week before the game with an injury. There was no big stars but the silver lining was that we would be able to see some of the next generation and in particular Neymar who there was a lot of hype about before the game.

The game started and immediately for the next 90 minutes there was continuously samba drums, whistles and what ever other musical instrument you can think of which can be related to Brazil. For a man with a hangover it was going to be a long 90 minutes.

But back to the game, Brazil started strongly in the first 30 mins and Julio Cesar was happily sitting back and being a spectator. Some of Scotland's players who I thought would have a decent game failed to shine such as Charlie Adams while Kenny Miller was struggling to make an impact by chasing the long ball which Brazil's centre backs easily dealt with.

Soon enough Neymar popped up with the first goal after several chances, taking the ball on the inside when in the box, he managed to adjust his body brilliantly to slot the ball in the bottom corner beyond the hands on Mcgregor.

Surprised I was come the second half, whilst the samba band were still playing, Scotland came out fighting. I was quite surprised by how much they were going for it and it seemed their midfield finally clicked and Crainey was getting forward and looking like a threat. It was a shame when the penalty came as that put the final nail into Scotland's coffin, it was a definite penalty which Neymar converted with no problems. From then on Neymar looked a constant threat running at the back four of Scotland. The Brazil midfield pairing of Ramires and Lucas looked brilliant as well.

But unfortunately the major incident of the game overshadowed the football with the 'banana' incident. I was right in front of the pitch where the banana was found and as far as I'm aware, the banana was thrown when the action was taking place at the other end of the pitch and the fans that were closest where it was thrown were Brazil fans so I think this incident is being over evaluated and should just be laid to rest.

In the end Brazil were convincing 2-0 winners and Scotland should take a lot from this game.

The worst possible job interview that has ever been set up.

I decided to make a regular blog of what I get up to in 2011 and decided to start off with what my main ambition is for 2011, get a job and what better place to start a blog of my 2011, then to talk about my first job interview of 2011.

I had just finished my internship at Hammersmith hospital and got a call from a company out of the blue saying they saw my CV, I forgot to ask where there found it but it today's climate I just wanted a job. It was a job for IT sales, over the phone for the first 3 months then you will be going out and about meeting clients.

I rejected it the first time they called as it sounded like another sales job and as much as I hated sales I knew I was no good at it. But I had a bit of time to think about it(plus when they called me I was half-asleep) and the more I thought about it, the more I thought I should give it a go, a job is hard to come by today and thought I should just go for it.

I called back and eased past the phone interview in 5 mins. I got the interview and was set to go.

I turned up on the day to expect a small group interview (I hated these for obvious reasons) but turned up to a group interview of 60 people!! It's difficult to impress in a group of 10, but a group of 60 it was near impossible. At the start they gave us a small introduction of what will happen during the day which was a small introduction to what the company looks for, a small 2 min presentation in front of everyone which included our name, star sign and our biggest achievement to date, next was a group task which the company wanted to see us have leadership then a one to one interview and then a 3 min presentation in front of 3 people which focused on why we wanted a job in sales and why we wanted to work for their company.

The introduction was basic, I then had to sit there for 2 and a half hours listening to people before I had my 5 mins of fame. It was boring and horrible and spent half the time sat there on twitter.
Next was the group task, 20 mins and 2 tasks (10 mins each task) first task involved team work with another group and showing leadership was impossible, I hate shouting over other people and that's what it came down to, I refuse to do it and trying to make a point was trying to heard in a football stadium. The next task was the same but involved 15 items and being stuck in a desert, I gave up and just sat back, I knew at this point the job wasn't mine and just decided to have a laugh for the rest of it with a few people I met.

The one to one interviews were basic questions, the presentation was simple, I went in there with no hope and came out the same, the company seemed a let down and I couldn't care less. What made it worse was that I was stuck in an interview for 7 and a half hours which made things worse. I spent the rest of the time playing games on my phone and in the end I was glad I didn't get the job, as the people that did and met, were proper t*ats and I'm sure didn't have any friends and didn't have a heart.

But the person I felt most sorry for was a girl who came all the way from Edinburgh for this interview when I only had a 10 min train journey and she didn't get the job. Times like this where I think I'm in a bad position and realise people are a lot worse off

The search continues........
